    Am I running to get in better shape or to get distracting thoughts out of my head?

    Am I going out to enjoy being with friends or to forget my worries?

    Am I writing to grow an audience or to process my own emotions?

    What am I striving for?

    Your answers may vary from day to day. There are no right or wrong answers anyway.

    But that doesn’t mean it isn’t useful to understand why you behave the way you do.

    Maybe it even makes you curious about why others behave the way they do, too.

    Help out friends, not for expecting them to return the favor, but for how helping out friends makes you feel.

    Do the right thing, not for any outer reward, but an inner feeling of aligning with who you want to be.

    Only after reading this quote I realized how often we all hold the opposite belief: I have never tried that before, so I think I am not (and will never be) able to do that.

    What a sad and disempowering belief.

    Which begs the question…

    Where are you disqualifying yourself before even trying it out first?

    What would life be like if your default belief is that things you haven’t tried before are possible for you?

    How would that change your decisions?

    How much fear and frustration would you leave behind?

    Might be worth journaling about.
