  • #144 Turning a blind eye

We’re not able to see almost everything in life and are blind to only a couple of things.

We’re blind to almost everything in life and are able to see only a couple of things.

And of the things we are able to see, we (consciously or subconsciously) focus on an even smaller subset, and then turn a blind eye to the rest.

To live a creative life, there’s no need to create anything new.

Open your eyes, prick up your ears, smell the air, and feel the earth beneath your feet.

Then open your heart, taste your thoughts, sense subtle shifts, and heed the voice in your head.

When you marry your inner and outer world
    insights unfurl.

  • #201 Nothing will be perfect

What would you finally dare to do today
if you knew whatever you try will never be perfect anyway?

Publish a story with typos and awkward sentences?
Run a marathon without finishing it?
Play a guitar piece and trip up five times?
Sing in front of other people and miss a note?
Try a new yoga pose in class and fall over?

    Nothing will be perfect today.
    Nothing will be perfect tomorrow.

But if you take imperfect action
and dare to publish imperfect work
everything you do will have the perfect taste of progress and consistency.

And that’s all that counts anyway.

    #195 Scarcity vs Destiny

I go to the gym, play volleyball, run, and land on yoga.

I speak, film, consult, and land on writing.

I sing, dance, drum, and land on playing the guitar.

When you’ve only ever seen one path for yourself all your life, it’s scarcity.

When you’ve opened your eyes, explored life, and consciously decided to take the path that aligns the most with who you want to be…

    It’s destiny.

    Explore.

#102 When dreams turn into certainties

Elon Musk has the rock-solid belief that someday, he’s going to put people on Mars. He doesn’t hope for it. He believes it’s inevitable.

Whether his belief becomes a reality or not is irrelevant. What matters are the actions and grit his faith inspires in him and everyone working with him.

That’s the rock-solid determination extraordinary feats are built on.

But you don’t have to dream of interplanetary travel to reach stellar levels of determination.

What would you do if writing a new book isn’t just optional or desirable but inevitable?

What would you do if mastering an instrument isn’t just possible but inescapable?

What happens when, in your mind, you turn a dream into a certainty?

How does that change your actions? Mindset? Beliefs? Feelings?

How much easier does it become to persevere?

#223 Maybe this finally makes it click

“Don’t you ever run out of ways to write a letter every day on the same topic?” I imagine you ask me.

In fact, I don’t have to imagine it. I have been asked this question many a time. Not in the least by myself.

Yet here we are, over 200 days in, and I’ve learned that there are many more ways to say the same thing than I ever thought possible.

What’s more: I’ve learned that they’re all equally important.

Because today’s letter could be what finally makes it click for you.
Because today’s letter could be what finally makes it click for me.
Because today’s letter invalidates my scarcity beliefs around idea generation – after all, if I can come up with a new letter every day for 200+ days, where else do I mistakenly believe I’ll run out of ideas, opportunities, or possibilities?

And, of course, because today’s letter is my personal Tiny Trust Builder.

So for as long as I can, for as long as I need it, and for as long as I believe YOU need it, you’ll receive a letter every day.

That’s right: every day, more wordplay
finding a thousand ways to say
that no matter what comes your way
only your self-trust is here to stay.
