    #161 It’s not that complicated.

If you want to be a writer, write wholeheartedly and consistently until you start believing you’re a writer and you trust you’ll always be – then relax.

If you want to be a runner, run wholeheartedly and consistently until you start believing you’re a runner and you trust you’ll always be – then relax.

If you want to be there for your family, start being there for them wholeheartedly and consistently until you start believing you’re a family guy and you trust you’ll always be – then relax.

    #46 Feigned feelings

feigned feelings lead to forced forging
of a bond, brittle, easily broken

but when i learn to listen
    to the winds whirling within
stop seeing them as a sin

when i hold them back no more
    forceful feelings finally roar
    revealing a hidden song
    sung secretly for so long

    my true self set free
    softly I breathe
    my melody into your mind
    feelings mingle, sometimes grind
    leaving the shyness far behind

    and hearing our songs entwined
    I am no longer blind
    to the insight
that we’ve been singing the same song
of a wordless world where we all belong

    at last I feel strong
    for we were always one
    blessed by a bond
    that can’t be undone

#223 Maybe this finally makes it click

“Don’t you ever run out of ways to write a letter every day on the same topic?” I imagine you ask me.

In fact, I don’t have to imagine it. I have been asked this question many a time. Not in the least by myself.

Yet here we are, over 200 days in, and I’ve learned that there are many more ways to say the same thing than I ever thought possible.

What’s more: I’ve learned that they’re all equally important.

Because today’s letter could be what finally makes it click for you.
Because today’s letter could be what finally makes it click for me.
Because today’s letter invalidates my scarcity beliefs around idea generation – after all, if I can come up with a new letter every day for 200+ days, where else do I mistakenly believe I’ll run out of ideas, opportunities, or possibilities?

And, of course, because today’s letter is my personal Tiny Trust Builder.

So for as long as I can, for as long as I need it, and for as long as I believe YOU need it, you’ll receive a letter every day.

That’s right: every day, more wordplay
finding a thousand ways to say
that no matter what comes your way
only your self-trust is here to stay.

  • #154 When results have become irrelevant

When technology and AI outpace us and we can’t be the best, smartest, fastest, strongest on the planet anymore – will we still care about our economic output?

When results have become irrelevant, what are the things I will still want to do?

Maybe we’ll rediscover value in our actions themselves and the pleasure and pain they make us feel – happy, sad, useful, worthless, brimming with purpose, overflowing with self-hatred…?

Will I still write just because I enjoy writing, even if AI could write a better-researched, more insightful book than I ever could?

Will I still learn a language just because learning a language makes me feel good, even if I could use an instant translation device to talk to anyone in the world?

Will I still spend my days in an office cubicle if that’s a painful prospect?

An era of soul-searching is coming.
