#47 Are we all just animal?

The scientific revolution has left a god-shaped hole in our heart
but where do we find purpose, when we think we are so smart?

    with all our might
    we try to unhide
    what’s out of sight

we fight to forge a light as bright
as the one that once brought life

without knowing the path that’s right
we rush to reach new heights
    in spite
of the world we feel inside

until the wind brings a storm
    the earth shakes
    shatters our home
    rivers overflow
    fire burns our flesh
    then where do we go?

when we know that with every ploy
    to make the world adhere
    we also destroy
    what we hold dear

    with actions this flawed
can we really pretend we are god
    or are we all
    just animal?

    #58 Pre-verbal

There used to be a time when you didn’t have words for your feelings. You just felt them.

You didn’t have words to say that your parents are your parents. You just knew it.

You didn’t have words for the sounds other humans made. Like singing birds, a buzzing bumblebee, or a rolling thunder, it was all just vibrating air.

What was your experience of reality like before words started categorizing, abstracting and limiting what you could see, hear, touch and feel?

#255 The method to your madness

Most people don’t see why you’re taking time out of your busy day to sit down and write until the book you were working on every day lies in front of them.

They don’t see why you run every day and eat clean until you set a personal best at the next marathon.

They don’t see the new product you’re working on until it’s developed so far that it helps them achieve their goals.

You’re the only one who sees the method to your madness.

    And that’s fine.

Because you probably don’t see the method to their madness either.

    #130 The perfect excuse

Perfectionism is the perfect excuse for not showing up.

If you don’t publish because you’re waiting for the perfect blog post, you’ll hide behind your desk forever – because there’ll always be something you can improve.

If you don’t go for a walk because you’re waiting for the perfect weather, you’ll be stuck forever inside – because there’ll always be a day with more sunshine or a nicer breeze.

If you wait to live the life you desire until you have the perfect age, amount of money, degree, or partner, you’ll wait until it’s too late to enjoy your life in the first place.

If you know things will never be perfect anyway, and you’re not allowed to wait until they’re perfect, or even until they’re “good enough”…

What could you start doing today? What have you been putting off?
